This has been the most jarring experience of moving to the Netherlands.

Last night I saw a Muslim family, the daughter of 10 or 11 years was in full Zwarte Piet costume with black face. I can’t even imagine the experience of being a child of immigrants, trying to culturally adapt to your home and participating in an overtly racist tradition to fit in with your peers.
