As someone with an ACE score of 5/10, the finding that health complications, physical and mental, show a correlation with childhood trauma is unsurprising. The resistance to publication of the research is equally unsurprising.
While by many measures I am a successful person, I regularly struggle with complications of mental health that interfere with many pursuits. I often debate internally if or how to communicate these struggles. I worry about issues of favoritism or special treatment at the same time that I worry about a lack of understanding and flexibility if I divulge these personal challenges.
