I really can’t fathom McCain’s issue with the Jones Act. I’m assuming corporate lobby/backers of McCain are trying to cut costs at the risk of US jobs and security. The Jones Act protects US jobs through requiring US built fleets crewed by US citizens. And it keeps US waters safe by minimizing transit of foreign vessels and crews is US waters. Seriously, jobs and boundary security, how can anyone, much less a republican take issue with that?

Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has once again launched an attack on the Jones Act, announcing Tuesday that he has filed an amendment to a bill to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline that would repeal the Merchant Marine Act of 1920, aka the Jones Act.
